As the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear arguments in a case brought forward by two conservative nonprofits challenging donor disclosure requirements in California, some nonprofits are pushing back on new nonprofit donor disclosure requirements in New York.

“The bill requires some nonprofits to disclose publicly the names of donors who give more than $10,000, even if those groups aren’t taking part in candidate elections. The left’s pressure groups and media will then stigmatize donors.”

The Supreme Court will hear AFPF v. Becerra, a case about freeing people from intimidation by those in power and defending their right to engage on issues they’re passionate about.

Unfortunately, here’s another example of a politician weaponizing a donor list to shame and intimidate people for their beliefs, instead of engaging in a productive policy debate.

“Making a list of your political enemies and promising that they will get payback and people will go after them because they worked for a different political party is literally fascism.”

One of our greatest freedoms is the right to remain silent — to mind our own business. But today, some activists threaten shaming and even violence against those who don’t take the initiative to endorse what they deem to be politically correct.
