People United for Privacy Foundation Welcomes Alex Baiocco as Director of Government Affairs

December 6, 2023

People United for Privacy Foundation is excited to announce that Alex Baiocco has joined our organization as Director of Government Affairs. In this role, Alex will work with PUFPF Vice President Matt Nese to develop and execute the organization’s legislative priorities at the state and federal level and work with a diverse array of coalition partners across the country.

“The ability of nonprofits and their supporters to pursue their missions without fear of invasive government mandates is fundamental to a robust civil society. When groups are forced to choose between meaningful engagement on core issues and protecting the privacy of their supporters, would-be participants are sidelined. I’m excited to contribute to the vital work that PUFPF is doing to defend rights essential to safeguarding the nonprofit sector’s indispensable role in American democracy,” said Alex.

“Alex brings years of experience on donor privacy issues to our team and will be invaluable in expanding our efforts to monitor, analyze, and respond to threats to privacy in association across the country. This new role is another step forward in PUFPF’s strategy of building the most capable and dedicated staff of experts to address this unique and critical policy area,” said PUFPF CEO Heather Lauer.

Alex previously spent seven years as a Policy Analyst at the Institute for Free Speech, where he provided analysis to lawmakers, partner organizations, the media, and the public on legislation and policy proposals impacting political speech and association rights. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Political Science. After spending several years in Washington, D.C., Alex now resides in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
